In this class you will get to experience pyrography, the technique of decorating wood or other materials, such as leather, using a heated tool. Learn the various types of basic wood burning techniques, tool care, and safety measures. The purpose of this beginner friendly class is to learn new skills, discover new techniques, and explore new tools. Your instructor will lead you through the steps from design to execution to customize your first piece.

After learning the techniques and getting practical tips, you will make your own piece from the options provided. In this unique workshop, you will be introduced to the history of pyrography as well as the various types of materials, techniques, and necessary safety precautions of working with this interesting medium. After experimenting with pen tips to create various burn patterns and textures, you’ll create your own decorative design on a cradled wood panel.
