FIRE & RESCUE TRAINING
ACC is accredited by the N.C. Fire and Rescue Commission to deliver certification testing in the following areas: firefighter, emergency vehicle driving, fire and life safety educator, hazardous materials, driver operator, technical rescue, pumps and aerial instructor.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years old by the start of orientation
- Valid Drivers License
- Up to date physical (cadets responsibility to obtain)
- Pass physical agility test given at orientation
- Department issued turnout gear,
(If you’re not affiliated with a department, ACC Training Staff will assist in this process)
- Department issued SCBA and spare bottle for training purposes (if you’re not affiliated with department, ACC Training Staff will assist in this process
- Uniforms ordered before orientation
- Book required, Jones and Bartlett, Fundamentals of fire fighter skills and Hazardous Materials Response, Fourth Edition
We offer many courses for firefighter training, both certification and other in-service training. Classes may be held at local fire departments.

Firefighter Certification Classes
These courses are primarily offered off campus at county fire departments and are designed to help volunteer firefighters obtain training needed for certification.

Rescue Classes
These are for specialized rescue operations. Most classes are offered off-campus at various county locations.

Specialized Training
Designed to meet the training needs of various agencies, these courses may include such things as Arson Investigation, Emergency Management, and LP Gas Emergencies.
