CAMPS OFFERED THIS SUMMER

 

Horticulture and Animal Care Always wanted to get into hydroponics at home? Want to merge your creativity and love of the outdoors into landscape design? Or maybe you’re interested in small animal management? ACC's Agventures Camp exposes middle school students to the agricultural and adjacent industries. We promise dirty hands, new experiences, and fun!

Explore a variety of mediums, two and three-dimensional, and make artistic apparel. Terry Durham, the owner of Applied Rare Talent, will guide you through painting your own shoes and designing your own T-Shirt. Please bring your own kicks to paint and T-shirt to design.

This Cybersecurity camp includes labs, hands-on-activities, group discussions, and a fun competition with prizes!

Entrepreneurship Camp will be a week filled with exploration and thought leadership. Youth will learn key concepts from guided exercises that focus on problem solving, creative thinking, team work, collaboration and resourcefulness. Each day will be a unique and enlightening experience as students navigate the Community College environment as a simulation of the small business ecosystem.

Interested in learning to draw or just wanting to sharpen your pencil skills? Do you want to learn painting techniques but oil dries too slow and acrylic dries too fast and both are too messy? Join us and explore both of these media! We will cover value, selecting subjects, composition, blending a smooth gradient, and more.

Come to ACC’s state-of-the-art automotive facility and learn wrench-turning from some of the best. We’ll cover the basics - changing a tire, checking fluids, and checking the battery - and also leave room for more advanced instruction. Closed-toe shoes are required.

This camp is for high school aged young ladies who are ready to get in the shop and let their creativity flow without any judgement! Within these 3 days, campers will learn how to use a plasma torch, how to MIG and TIG weld, and be able to fabricate a project to take home. This event is a follow up for Girls Take Over Tech, with a focus on welding. Closed toed shoes are required. Personal protective equipment will be provided. Ages 14-18.  Fortune favors the bold!

The Welding Department is opening this summer for a week of blacksmithing, basic welding, and project design. Camp participants will apply their knowledge to a fabrication project that they complete by the end of the week. No prior experience is necessary, but our instructors are ready to push you further no matter where you are. Ages 14 - 18. Closed toe footwear is required.

Keyframe your way into the exciting world of animation! You will gain hands-on experience using a web-based platform to animate creative GIF, SVG, and video files. Finally, you’ll use your skills to create your own animated short beginning with concept creation, to developing a storyboard, to final export.

Discover an art form that encourages the unique you. Want to break free from the traditional creative mediums? Junk journaling is the way to go. The handmade book of recycled and found materials is used to write, record memories, thoughts, ideas, and inspirations. The finished journal will become your unique treasure. BE WARNED! This art comes with a warning label. Junk journaling has been known to be addictive!

Want to try your hand at computer programming? How about programming that controls the movement and precision of giant machines? Want to make your own Air Powered Motor? America’s Cutting Edge (ACE) may have a place for you! Our mission is to help you discover the exciting opportunities available through advanced machining. Curious about what ACE can do for you? Then sign up for the ACE Boot Camp and give machining a chance for the week.

ACC’s Makerspace is a playground for creatives, aspiring graphic designers, and DIY aficionados. Participants will get to explore 3D printing, vinyl cutting, button making, laser engraving, and more.

Makerspace Studio is a 1 week intensive for high school students interested in graphic design, digital arts, and creative DIY. Participants will explore 3D printing, vinyl cutting, button making, laser engraving, and more. There will be guided instruction and unstructured time to work with over 9 industry-grade facilities and machines.

In this camp, you will create sculptures in different art media using clay, wood, nature, and recycled items. Students will create stand-alone pieces, sculptures with a useful purpose, or wall-mount sculptures using different techniques in these media.

Please join us for this fun and creative camp. Topics include color theory, proper way to polish, polka dots, mermaid scales, ladybugs, flowers, hearts, rainbows, and so much more!

This summer camp will allow you to begin your crafting journey, focusing on basic sewing skills. The week’s mini projects will build to a final project- making a stuffed animal. Students are encouraged to bring the following: a set of scissors (strictly for use on fabric), pins or clips, and any fabric you would like to use on your project.

ACC's health and public services programs are teaming up to bring you a week of hands-on career exploration. Topics include dental assisting, medical assisting, nurse aide, biotechnology, nursing, histology, EMS, medical lab technology, criminal justice, and fire protection.

Start with simple designs like landscapes and text, and take your creativity as far as you want to go! Local arts entrepreneur, Terry Durham, will walk you through using heat to create images in wood. Participants will get to take home their work.
