HSE in the Community is another flexible option for students who need or want to study from home. Participants complete a series of 10 lessons through the mail in postage paid envelopes. Students are expected to mail in lessons weekly and to come to ACC’s campus for progress testing, practice and official GED® or HiSET® tests. Instructors return each lesson corrected and offer tutoring through the phone and in person.
Lesson 1 is available for pick up in various locations throughout Alamance County (including McDonald’s, Goodwill, and Social Services), can be mailed directly to your home, or printed out and completed. New students must mail in a completed Lesson 1 before attending an orientation for HSE in the Community.
ELA programs are also available through distance education. We offer various online options. Students are expected to come to campus at least three times during the course, but the majority of the work is completed at home. Weekly contact with the instructor is expected via telephone, e-mail, or drop-in office hours for all distance courses.
Students who are motivated to work independently are encouraged to participate.
