APPRENTICESHIPS

Alamance Community College is proud to offer apprenticeships for youth and adults.

What is an Apprenticeship?

Alamance Community College is partnering with various companies to provide related education to registered apprenticeship programs. The curriculum chosen by the companies is based on industry needs. ACC currently offers A.A.S. Degrees as well as Certificates for apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeship programs offered through Continuing Education are not listed here.

What are your Options?

Apprenticeships are different from other training programs in several ways:

  • Industry Led – Apprenticeship programs are aligned with industry standards and approved by employer partners.
  • Paid Job – Apprenticeships are jobs! Apprentices earn a competitive wage and receive regular pay increases as they progress through the program.
  • On-the-Job Training – Apprentices are being trained by seasoned professionals and mentored by a designated coworker.
  • Related Instruction – Apprentices receive instruction at Alamance Community College leading to a credential.
  • Diversity – Apprenticeship programs are designed to reflect the communities in which they operate.
  • Quality & Safety – Apprentices are afforded special worker protections while receiving training.
  • Credentials – Apprentices earn a portable, nationally-recognized credential within their industry.

Alamance Community College is proud to offer apprenticeships for youth and adults in several areas.

Are you ready to learn advanced skills, jump into a stable career, and become a leader? Alamance Community College provides an avenue through the Apprentice Alamance for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit tuition-free while getting paid to receive on-the-job training.

Apprentice Alamance is a partnership of ABSS, the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, ACC, and local manufacturing-based companies.

Adults for Industrial Development (AID) Program for Adult Apprenticeships

The AID program welcomes adult participants year-round. On-the-job training begins once an applicant receives an apprenticeship offer, although related instruction may be deferred to the next semester. Tuition is typically covered, and hourly pay varies by occupation.

Important Note on Apprenticeships
As apprentices are primarily employees of a company, the apprenticeship cannot commence until the applicant has received a formal apprenticeship offer from the employer.

The Best Path to Apprenticeship
The best way to become an adult apprentice is by first becoming an ACC student and then being referred to industry partners for apprenticeship opportunities.

Entry Points for Adult Apprenticeships

  • Current ACC Students: Referred to industry partners for apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Non-Students: May submit resumes for referral to available apprenticeship opportunities.

Available Apprenticeship Pathways
In the following, there is a list of all available apprenticeship pathways. Although programs are open to both adults and youth, some companies choose to focus on one group. As this can change based on industry needs, we refrain from categorizing the following pathways into youth and adults.
