APPRENTICESHIPS

Alamance Community College is proud to offer apprenticeships for youth and adults.

What is an apprenticeship

Alamance Community College is partnering with various companies to provide related education to registered apprenticeship programs. The curriculum chosen by the companies is based on industry needs. ACC currently offers A.A.S. Degrees as well as Certificates for apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeship programs offered through Continuing Education are not listed here.

Apprenticeships are different from other training programs in several ways:

  • Industry Led – Apprenticeship programs are aligned with industry standards and approved by employer partners.
  • Paid Job – Apprenticeships are jobs! Apprentices earn a competitive wage and receive regular pay increases as they progress through the program.
  • On-the-Job Training – Apprentices are being trained by seasoned professionals and mentored by a designated coworker.
  • Related Instruction – Apprentices receive instruction at Alamance Community College leading to a credential.
  • Diversity – Apprenticeship programs are designed to reflect the communities in which they operate.
  • Quality & Safety – Apprentices are afforded special worker protections while receiving training.
  • Credentials – Apprentices earn a portable, nationally-recognized credential within their industry.

Alamance Community College is proud to offer apprenticeships for youth and adults in several areas.

Are you ready to learn advanced skills, jump into a stable career, and become a leader? Alamance Community College provides an avenue through the Career Accelerator Program for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit tuition-free while getting paid to receive on-the-job training.

The Career Accelerator Program (CAP) is a partnership of ABSS, the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, ACC, and local manufacturing-based companies.

Upcoming Opportunities

Pre-apprenticeship

ACC’s pre-apprenticeships offer an excellent opportunity to explore various career paths while earning college credit.

As part of the Duke Energy/Piedmont Natural Gas Community College Apprenticeship Grant, ACC will be conducting an eight-week pre-apprenticeship program from March 14 to May 9, 2024.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to 8:50 PM.

Our AID pre-apprenticeship is designed to prepare adults for careers in manufacturing and the trades. Participants will benefit from eight weeks of free, hands-on and classroom instruction, providing them with trade-specific skills and certifications. Whether you're seeking to discover the right career path or looking to enhance your credentials, this program is tailored for you.

Here's an overview of the program:

  • Classroom instruction covering communication skills, industry overview, financial wellbeing, employability skills, personal health, career preparation, and job exploration (which leads to college credit for PTE-111 Pathway to Employment)
  • Hands-on experience in Machining, Welding, Heating & Air, Mechatronics/Industrial Systems, Computer-Aided Drafting, and Automotive
  • Facility tours

If you're interested in joining the pre-apprenticeship program, you can register here.
