The landscape of automotive servicing has undergone significant transformation over the past decade. Today's mechanics operate not only with traditional tools but also with sophisticated electronic equipment, requiring a comprehensive understanding of computer diagnostics in addition to fundamental vehicle repair techniques. To effectively address automotive issues, service technicians must excel in diagnosing problems and applying their technical expertise to resolve them. The Automotive Systems Technology program at ACC is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the ever-evolving transportation industry.

 

Train in a world-class facility

Automotive Systems Technology students learn by doing in the new Advanced Applied Technology Center at Alamance Community College. This is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide hands-on experience for technical careers.

In this program, you will study:

  • Automotive theory

  • Servicing and operation of brakes

  • Electrical/electronic systems

  • Engine performance

  • Steering/suspension

  • Automatic transmission/transaxles

  • Engine repair

  • Climate control

  • Manual transmissions/transaxles

  • Drive-lines

When students complete this program, they will be prepared to take the ASE exam and ready for full-time employment in a variety of settings: dealerships, repair shops, and automotive manufacturing facilities to name a few.
