ACC Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

The Alamance Community College Foundation has welcomed six new members to the Board of Directors whose four-year terms began January 1, 2025. They are Tracey Williamson Alston, Sara Cloud, Ray Deal, Brent Hampton, Dr. G. Wallace Kernodle Jr., and W. Terry McNeill. Two faculty and staff liaisons, Justin Pedley and Tammy Saul, serve two-year terms.

 

The new board members are:

 

Tracey Williamson Alston is a product of the Alamance Burlington School System, graduating in 1986 from Walter Williams High School. She later attended East Carolina University, Alamance Community College and Fayetteville Technical College to obtain her Funeral Directing License in 2001, a NC Insurance License, and a Notary Public certification. Tracey has operated Sharpe Funeral Home, Inc., in Burlington, NC for the last 17 years. During that time, she contributed to the ACC Foundation. In her professional career, she has held several positions in the Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, and is currently the Vice-President of the Funeral Directors & Morticians Association of NC, Inc. She is a member and trustee of the River Zion Baptist Church, in Blanch, NC.

 

Sara Cloud offers a unique blend of experience in business, finance, and education for the ACC Foundation Board. As co-founder and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Alliance MOCVD, a leading company in the semiconductor industry, Sara has driven growth and innovation with a focus on workforce development and creating opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in STEM fields and advanced manufacturing. Her previous role was with JPMorgan Chase, where she led financial reporting and compliance for multi-billion-dollar accounts. In education, Sara served as a special education teacher and department chair, advocating for inclusive practices and individualized learning. She served on the Georgia State Special Education Advisory Committee, where she contributed to developing curriculum guidelines to make academic standards more accessible to students with disabilities. Sara currently serves as a member of the IMPACT Alamance Leadership Table and is the incoming Vice Chair of Economic Development for the Alamance Chamber.

 

Ray Deal is a native of Alamance County and has been practicing law for more than 30 years. A graduate of Elon University and the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, he has concentrated his practice since 1997 in the areas of estate planning, asset protection for long-term care needs and estate administration. Ray’s community interests revolve around elder issues and he has served on the board of directors and is past chair of the United Church Homes & Services, Inc. (now EveryAge) of Newton, NC. He also served on the Participant Advisory Council for Carolina Senior Care, a PACE program sponsored by United Church Homes and Services, Inc. Ray serves on the endowment committee and is a past chair of the consistory of First Reformed United Church of Christ.

 

Brent Hampton is the President and CEO of Century Products, LLC. Brent Hampton, a Western Alamance High School alumnus, is a staunch believer in education.  He has a B.A. in Psychology with a Concentration in Business Management from Guilford College and an MBA from Elon University. Brent joined the team at Century Products LLC in 2009, a business founded by his father in 1987. Under his father’s tutelage, Brent gained business acumen and has headed the company since 2020.  Outside of work, Brent has a love for cars, art, travel, and new experiences.

 

Dr. G. Wallace Kernodle, Jr. is an Alamance County native and practiced Rheumatology and Internal Medicine at the Kernodle Clinic for 37 years, retiring in 2023. He has served as a member of the Alamance County Board of Health, as President of Kernodle Clinic, and as President of the Alamance/Caswell Medical Society. He currently is a physician volunteer at the Open Door Clinic, and serves on its Board of Directors.

 

Terry McNeill retired as Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Alamance Community College in 2015. He previously served in various teaching and administrative positions at Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth, VA, and Anson Community College in Ansonville, NC.  Previous educational career experience includes teaching 8th grade science in Greensboro, NC. Terry has a strong record of volunteering, including as a member of Graham Rotary Club, Alamance Citizens for Education, and Guilford/Alamance Junior Achievement.

 

Justin Pedley (Faculty Liaison) is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) and currently serves ACC as the Department Head for the planned Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) Program. A graduate of Central Carolina Community College’s (CCCC) Veterinary Medical Technology Program, Justin worked in both Large and Small Animal Medicine. He returned to CCCC in 2020 to instruct students in VMT. Justin is working toward his B.S. in Veterinary Technology from Appalachian State University. As a recipient of scholarships during his time at CCCC, Justin understands the importance of student financial assistance. He is passionate about helping students achieve their goals and loves to celebrate student success. Outside of work, Justin enjoys gardening, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.

 

Tammy Saul (Staff Liaison) is a Health Programs Advisor at Alamance Community College. She will graduate in May 2025 with her Masters in Higher Education from Appalachian State University. Employed at ACC for more than six years, Tammy has extensive knowledge of financial aid and has been a partner with the Foundation in awarding scholarships. As a Health Program Advisor, Tammy collaborates with all departments across the campus to guide students through their education and into meaningful careers. Tammy understands the importance of a positive educational journey and wants each student to feel appreciated and supported. She is a member of the Student Redesign Steering Committee to improve student experiences from onboarding to graduation.
