Graham, N.C. — Alamance Community College (ACC) welcomed Lt. Governor Rachel Hunt to campus as part of her statewide Future Ready Tour, an initiative focused on highlighting how North Carolina’s community colleges are preparing students for today’s workforce and tomorrow’s economy.

During the visit, Lt. Governor Hunt was joined by college leadership, local elected officials, and representatives from the Alamance Chamber, underscoring the strong collaboration between education, industry, and the community. The tour included stops at ACC’s Biotechnology Center of Excellence and the Advanced Applied Technology Center—two facilities central to the college’s workforce and economic development efforts.

At the Biotechnology Center of Excellence, Lt. Governor Hunt learned more about ACC’s role in training students for high-demand careers in biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and life sciences. College leaders highlighted how hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and state-of-the-art lab spaces help students to acquire the skills necessary to enter the workforce quickly and successfully.

The tour continued at the Advanced Applied Technology Center, where participants explored programs in applied engineering, skilled trades, and advanced manufacturing. These programs are closely aligned with regional employer needs and play a critical role in strengthening the local talent pipeline.

“Community colleges are essential to North Carolina’s future, and visits like this allow us to showcase how ACC is meeting students where they are and preparing them for meaningful careers,” said Dr. Ken Ingle, President of Alamance Community College. “We appreciate the Lt. Governor taking the time to see firsthand the impact of our programs and partnerships.”

The Future Ready Tour includes visits to all 58 community colleges across North Carolina, highlighting innovation, student success, and workforce readiness across the state. Lt. Governor Hunt’s visit to ACC emphasized the college’s commitment to accessibility, economic mobility, and preparing students for careers that support both local communities and statewide growth.

ACC continues to work closely with business and industry partners, elected leaders, and community organizations to ensure its programs remain responsive to workforce needs and aligned with opportunities in the region.
