Note from the Director
LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to the Office of Belonging at Alamance Community College.
It is a distinct privilege to serve the Alamance Community College campus as its
inaugural Director of Belonging. This office was established with a clear purpose:
to
foster a campus culture where every individual feels acknowledged, supported, and
empowered to succeed.
The work of belonging is not about promoting uniformity—it is about strengthening
our community through shared understanding, mutual respect, and inclusive
engagement. At its core, this effort invites each of us to listen more deeply, consider
new perspectives, and build stronger connections across the College.
Exposure to a range of experiences enhances our learning environment and deepens
our ability to serve others with empathy and purpose. This is essential in today’s
world, where collaboration, adaptability, and understanding are key to both personal
and professional growth.
At Alamance Community College, we are committed to cultivating an environment
where individuals feel secure in who they are, supported in who they can become, and
confident that they are part of something greater. Our strength lies in our
community—and when all members feel they belong, our institution thrives.
While progress has been made, we recognize that our journey is ongoing. I look
forward to continuing this work with you, and to building upon the strong foundation
already in place.
Together, we will move forward with intention, with care, and with a shared
commitment to student success.
