Graham, N.C. (November 7, 2025) – Alamance Community College proudly announced the swearing-in of Charles “Chuck” Evitt as its new Chief of Police during a ceremony held Friday, November 7.
Chief Evitt brings more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement and public safety to his new role. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has served in leadership positions across North Carolina, including with the Morganton Department of Public Safety, the Reidsville Police Department, and the Bald Head Island Department of Public Safety. His deep understanding of both the operational and community aspects of policing positions lead him to Alamance Community College’s Police Department.
“Chief Evitt is a seasoned law enforcement professional with a heart for service and community,” said Dr. Ken Ingle, President of Alamance Community College. “His extensive experience and commitment to community policing align perfectly with our college’s mission to ensure a safe, welcoming, and student-centered environment.”
Chief Evitt has spent much of his career emphasizing community-oriented policing, working to build trust and positive relationships between law enforcement and the citizens they serve. His leadership philosophy focuses on transparency, accountability, and engagement, values that will strengthen the partnership between campus police and the ACC community.
A graduate of Western Piedmont Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice, Chief Evitt has completed the advanced law enforcement leadership training through the North Carolina Justice Academy’s Management Development Program and the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy.
As ACC continues to expand its campus facilities and student body, Chief Evitt’s leadership will play an essential role in maintaining a culture of safety and respect across all locations.
