Truliant Foundation Donates $5,000 towards the ACC Food Pantry
Graham, N.C. - Alamance Community College (ACC) has received a generous donation from the Truliant Foundation to help address food insecurity among students and their families.
Food insecurity remains a significant challenge for many within the ACC community. It is estimated that one-third of ACC students face food insecurity at least periodically. "The $5,000 donated by Truliant Foundation will be used to purchase food and other basic needs for the ACC Food Pantry,” said Carolyn Rhode.
Funds donated will also be used to purchase $25 gift cards for staff to provide students with essential items when they are unavailable or not offered by the food pantry—such as diapers, toiletries, prescription medication, or gas to get home. In the year ending April 2025, the food pantry served 140 students. Including family members and dependents, nearly 500 individuals were impacted.
ACC and the ACC Foundation serve students who represent our community, specifically a highly diverse student population, with individuals ranging in age from 18 to 60. This includes traditional students, adult learners, working parents, first-generation college students, and those navigating complex financial or life circumstances.
“We aim to create a judgment-free, accessible environment where all students, regardless of their background or how often they seek help, feel supported, seen, and empowered to succeed.”
