The Practical Nursing curriculum provides knowledge and skills to integrate safety and quality into nursing care to meet the needs of the holistic individual which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential.  Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes safe, individualized nursing care and participation in the interdisciplinary team while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics.  Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) which is required for practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals, rehabilitation/long term care/home health facilities, clinics, and physicians’ offices.

 

 



Ready to Begin?

Pre-Nursing: Students are admitted under the Associate in General Education (Nursing) Degree until they have met the admissions requirements for the program. Faculty members advise students as to the courses they should take before formal admission. All developmental requirements may need to be completed before admission or registration into some courses.

We offer a day option for the program which begins every Spring semester. Students can complete their diploma in 3 semesters.

Upon graduation and successful completion of the NCLEX-PN, students are eligible to work in hospitals, physician offices, skilled nursing facilities, home healthcare services, insurance companies, outpatient clinics, and schools.

 

 

A typical week in nursing school (just NUR courses):

  • 2 lecture days (3-4 hours each day)
  • 1 clinical day (12 hours)
  • 1 lab day (6 hours) during the first semester only

  2. Complete the ATI TEAS exam (within 24 months of the application deadline)
  3. Complete the Selective Admissions application
